Winnipeg Jewish Theatre is seeking a Theatre Administrator who will work closely with the entire staff of the company. Responsibilities include working on various programs, coordinating with staff and artists, and responding to patron communications.
An ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, is an excellent communicator and problem solver and has strong organizational and multitasking skills. The position requires using email, word processing software, spreadsheets, and social media. Familiarity with the theatrical production process and the non-profit sector is an asset.
Responsibilities Include:
- Support all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the theatre, including management of invoicing and paying of bills, coding of the bills, working with the bookkeeper/auditor to ensure that the financials are kept current, managing artistic contracts, and other operational issues that may arise.
- Responsible for managing subscriptions, ticket sales and the box office, ensuring that during productions the box office is operating efficiently and that the patrons are being properly supported.
- Coordinating logistics for public performances and events.
- Responsible for the security and management of petty cash as well as concession supplies and sales, ensuring that the sales are properly recorded and the cash/debit/credit sales are properly and regularly accounted for.
- Providing support and communication with the Board.
- Provides logistical supports to creative team and casts, including fulfilling company management duties to ensure the smooth operation of our productions
- Other related duties, as required.

- Awareness and knowledge of collective agreements and contracting in theatre, an asset
- Experience managing budgets and negotiating contracts

- Communication – both verbal and written, including excellent telephone and email writing style
- Organizational Skills – well organized, close attention to detail, able to navigate shifting priorities, good task and time management
- Tact & Diplomacy – able to respond well to confidential information, diffuse conflicts and creatively offer input to productions & processes.
- Office Applications – experienced user of Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Artist Liaison – able to establish rapport with artists & agents
- A valid Driver’s License with access to a personal vehicle, an asset
Position Details:
- Our Theatre Administrator will work 30 hours per week, including some evenings, weekends & longer days.
- The role is based in Winnipeg, MB, at our administrative office with a largely in-person work environment.
- This is an entry-level role with opportunity for growth. WJT offers time off around the December holiday season and 2 weeks vacation. We do our best to offer a flexible/hybrid work schedule.
- The successful candidate will ideally start in August 2024, with some flexibility.
